Boxing Results: Alexis Rocha Draws With Raul Curiel

Alexis ‘Rocha (25-2-1, 16 KOs) fought to a non-stop slugfest to a twelve-round draw ending in a draw with Rocha getting one of the scores against Raul Curiel (15-0-1, 13 KOs) on Saturday night at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California.

Rocha drew with Curiel, 15-0-1 (13) in a 12-round contest.

In the first four rounds, Rocha had his way, landing on Curiel’s body and head. Curiel had his best round in the seventh round, finishing the final minute -anding Rocha.

Curiel had his best round in the eighth round, with Rocha covering up throughout the round. It went back and forth in the ninth and tenth rounds, taking turns getting the better of it.

In the eleventh round, Curiel outworked Rocha in a close fight for the most part. In the twelfth and final round, at the halfway point, Rocha rocked Curiel with a left hook to the chin. In the final minute, Curiel finishes the strength of the two.

The referee was Ray Corona. Tjhe scores 116-112 Rocha, 114-114 and 114-114.

Junior middleweight 2016 Olympian Charles Conwell (21-0, 16 KOs) stopped southpaw Gerardo Luis Vergara, 20-1, 13 KOs) at 2:51 of the seventh round of a scheduled ten rounds.

In the first two rounds, Conwell won both rounds, out-landing Vergara to the body. In the third round, both opened up to the body in a solid round for both, with Vergara bleeding from the mouth.

In the fourth round, Conwell continued getting the better of southpaw Vergara, whose record shows weak opposition against the former Olympian. Vergara finally made it competitive in the fifth round, though still losing the round.

In the sixth round, Conwell drew blood from the nose of Vergara. In the seventh round, Conwell landed a dozen unanswered punches, causing Referee Thomas Taylor to wisely call a halt.

Former Olympian WBA, WBC, WBO Super Flyweight World champ, 2012 Olympic Bronze Medalist Marlen Esparza (15-2, 1 KO) defeated former Flyweight champion Arley ‘Ametralladora’ Mucino (32-5-2, 11 KOs) by a ten round unanimous decision.

Thomas Taylor twice warned Mucino for pulling the head of Esparza down. In the third and fourth rounds, Mucino took both.

In the fifth and sixth rounds, Esparza came back to win both. In the eighth round, both boxers went to the body.

In the ninth round, both had their moments in an all-action round, with Esparza having an edge. In the tenth and final round, Mucino had a strong finish to take the round.

Scores 98-92, 98-92 and 97-93.

Super Flyweight John ‘Scrappy’ Ramirez (14-1, 9 KOs) defeated southpaw Ephraim Bui (10-1, 8 KOs) by a ten-round unanimous decision for the vacant NABF champion.

In the first round, Ramirez backed up Bui for the entire round. Bui suffered a cut on his right eyelid in the second round due to a clash of heads but did enough to outwork Ramirez. In the third round, Bui did well again, getting the best of Ramirez.

In the fourth round, blood streamed down the face of Bui’s right eye. In the fifth round, Ramirez landed several lead rights on Bui’s chin.

In the sixth round, Bui outlanded Ramirez. In the seventh round, Ramirez outworked Bui. In the eighth round, in the final seconds, Ramirez landed a hard right to Bui’s chin, knocking his head back.

In the ninth round, Ramirez rocked Bui with a right on the chin halfway through the round. In the tenth and final round, in a close fight, Bui had his best round out, landing Ramirez.

Referee Rudy Barragan. Scores 97-93, 97-93 and 97-93..

Super Feather Victor Morales I(20-0-1, 10 KOs) stopped Ivan Guardado (16-3-1, 6 KOs) at 0:1 of the eighth round of a scheduled ten rounds.

In the second round, Morales cut Guardado’s right eyelid. In the third round, Guardado came back with a left hook on the chin, hurting Morales in the first minute. Morales managed to get to the bell.

In the fourth round, Guardado returned well enough until the final seconds when Morales landed a left hook on the chin, almost dropping him and making him hold on. In the fifth round Guardado came back holding his own.

Morales’s right eye was closed from Guardado’s jabs in the seventh round. In the eighth round, Referee Ray Corona called in the ring physician, who examined the eye and called a halt.

Super bantamweight Jorge Chavez (13-8, (8 KOs) defeated Ruben ‘El Manichi’ Dario Casero, 12-4 (4 KOs), by an eight-round unanimous decision.

The referee was Rudy Barragan. The scores were 80-72, 80-72 and 80-72.

Light welterweight Ricardo Ruvalcaba (13-0-1, 10 KOs) defeated Jabin Chollet (10-2, 8 KOs) by an eight-round unanimous decision.

Scores 79-73, 80-72 and 80-72. The referee was Ray Corona.

Super Bantam Gael ‘El Terrorista’ Cabrera (6-0, 4 KOs), knocked out Garen ‘Hellboy’ Diagan (10-7, 5 KOs) at 2:59 of the second round of a scheduled 6.

In the second round, down went Diagan, forcing Referee Rudy Carriban to call a halt without a count.

Lightweight Joshua ‘El Americano’ Garcia (9-1, 4 KOs) was knocked out by Uhlices Avelino-Reyes (3-1, 2 KOs) in the second round of a scheduled six rounds.

In the first round, down went Avelino-Reyes for an 8-count from referee Chris Leben. In the second round, down went Avelino-Reyes for a second time, forcing Laben to call a halt.

Super Light Javier Meza (1-0, 1 KO) knocked out David Music (0-2) at 2:58 of the first round of a scheduled four rounds.

In the first round, down went Music, forcing Referee Chris Laben to call a halt.
